Q: How to install an amp and a subwoofer in a 2005 f150?
I have an amp and a sub at home and i want to know how to properly install them in my 2005 f150 please give details thanks is there any reprocutions i need to take?

A: First, figure out where you want to mount the amp and subs. Screw them down and move on to wiring. There are only four wires that you have to worry about for the initial installation. Power, remote, ground and preamp/signal. The power will be connected to the positive terminal of the battery and routed through the car to the positive terminal on the amp. This wire should have a fuse within eighteen inches of the battery. The remote will start at either the remote/power antenna wire on the back of the head unit or you can splice into the 12 volt ignition wire for the radio, if you have a stock radio. Route this through the car to the remote terminal on the amp. The preamp cables will be connected to the preamp output on the back of the stereo or a line out converter. Once again, you will have to route this through the car, to the amplifier. Connect them to the preamp input on the amp. Finally, the ground will have to be bolted to the chassis of the car. Use as short a run of wire as possible and connect it to the ground terminal on the amplifier. There you have it. At this point the amp should turn on and have a signal. But, the amp will not make sound until you connect the speakers to it. There are really too many possible wiring options to put all of them in my answer. I could however help if I knew what type/brand of amp and speakers that you are planning on using. Feel free to email me through my profile if you need more info.

I have a 2005 ford f150 and I want to add a sunroof, is that possible first of all? and if so, about how much would that cost? thanks.

A: Indeed it is very much possible... Your best source is likely national or regional chain of automotive glass shops, such as GLASS DOCTOR. Probable cost for the back-flip up variety, manual opening, should be less than $300. You may have size limitations, though. Good luck

Q: How much can I expect to pay for a fully synthetic oil change on my 2005 F150 in Tennessee?
My dealership in Washington State used to do it for free, now I've moved and I need to budget it in thank you schupta for contributing an actual answer to my question, I appreciate it very much I asked this question on answers so I could include the cost in my weekly budget which I was doing in the middle of the night. That's why I couldn't call around local places. Thanks everyone!

A: Not sure which engine you have, but the F150 XT with the 4.6L V8 engine, uses a Fram oil filter (PH3600), which costs $3.97 at Rockauto.com. Kragen/Schucks/Checker sells Mobil 1 synthetic for $6.50 /qt, or Valvoline synthetic for $5.50 /qt. Your truck probably uses at least 5-1/2 quarts, so figure $33 to $39 for the oil. A dealer would get a discount on both oil and filter, but add a labor and disposal charge, so you should figure about $50.

Q: Im a high school teen buying a 2005 f150. How many miles is too many? and how much in monthly payments is ok?
The truck im looking at is about $11,000 in offering to put $2,000 down. I plan on using this car until i finish college.

A: DO NOT BUY THE V-6 F150! It won't last you until the end of college. You need to find something cheap and pay cash for it.

Q: 2005 F150 Four-Wheel Drive not working, what is the actuator valve?
My truck has 42,000 miles on it and the 4 wheel drive quit working. Dealership says it needs two new hubs and an actuator valve. What is an actuator valve??? It costs about $44 and takes about half an hour to put in.

A: well, if it has only 42,000 miles on it, it shouldnt need two new hubs.that's just a dealer scam to get your money. i would get a second opinion on that i would.the actuator valve is when you push your 4 wheel drive button on it activates the solenoid which it opens the actuator valve. which it pretty much engages the 4 wheel drive system.

Q: Reverse lights dont work on a 2005 f150?
I have bought new light bulbs for the reverse light and it does not work I dont know if its the fuse or what. I what to know if any body knows the answer.

A: The FUSE is design to go before anything else (except the bulb). So the cheapest and the easiest thing to do first is to check the fuse. Good Luck...

2005 F150 window will not move for sometimes 25 times of pushing the button. warranty is out

A: 1. yes check your warranty.. 2. keep pushing the button that many times and you will burn it up. 3. if out of warranty check the switch first, very common for the switch to be bad or the back contact harness is loose.

Q: Can I install an OEM 2005 F150 stereo with mp3 input in my 2004 F150?
They appear to be the same size and shape, and I believe the dashboards are the same.

A: yes they are identical

Q: I have a 2005 Ford F150 pick up and every time I hit a bump it seems to lose power for a few seconds?
What my problems is when I hit a bump the truck loses power and then starts running again. The lights on the dash light up and then it is fine. I know something is probably lose but where do i start to look for it.

A: The battery terminals wouldn't make any difference nor would the starter. Once the engine starts it no longer needs the battery to run it could actually be removed and the truck would keep running. Same for the starter. Since you mentioned the lights dimming you should focus on the alternator wiring.

Q: i have a 2005 f150 and am putting a air horn with compressor in place of my factory horn how do i do it?
can i just plice the positive and negative from the old horn and plug it to the compressor or whats the best way to go about this process can i just plice it into my old pos neg from the old horn connector to the compressor or what?

A: no, you'll need to use a bosch-type 12v relay, 4-7 bucks at any auto parts store, to do this. The factory horn circuit won't carry the higher load of the compressor but will switch the relay just fine. You will also need a wire from the battery to the compressor fused at the battery. 10-12 guage probably but depends on the compresor and distance of the wire run. The pin layout on the relay should be self explanatory for its use. Train horns rock.

Q: What services for my 2005 Ford F150 should I have at 50,000 miles?
I have done nothing but oil changes and tire rotations every 5 thousand miles and I would like to know what services if any are vital to keep my truck running well.

A: Your owner's manual will have a list of what is to be done at what mileage intervals. If you don't have an owner's manual, ask a dealer to tell you what services are SCHEDULED for 50,000 or thereabouts. He'll tell you to bring it in so he can make a big list of stuff he'd like to get paid for, but just ask what is scheduled.
