Q: How do I losen sepintine belt to remove my alternator on my 2004 f150?
How do I loosen sepintine belt to remove my alternator on my 2004 f150? I have to change my alternator and can't figure out how to loosen the belt. Is there a special tool I need?
A: There is a spring tensioner that has a place for a wrench or socket so you can move it up and remove the belt. See owners manual.
Q: What color is the reverse light wire in a 2004 F150?
Is there a reverse light wire in the drivers kick panel on a 2004 F150? What color is it? I need to tap into it for a back up camera install.
A: Black with a white tracer.
Q: Does anybody know anything about the headliner rattling in the 2004-up F150's?
I have a 2004 F150 (new body) with a moonroof and everytime i hit a bump the headliner rattles. Its definitely the headliner and its driving me crazy! If i put pressure on the headliner with my hand and hit a bump the rattling goes away.
I read somewhere that Ford had a fix for this but thats all it said.Has anyone experienced this same problem or how to fix it?
A: they do have a fix its a cpl pieces of foam/rubber with adhesive on it i dont remeber the ssm number but if you go to a ford dealership and ask for the rattle kit they will be able to give it too you then drop the light in the rear and you install it to each side and presto vibration is gone good luck
Q: How many watts does a stock 2004 f150 head unit produce?
Does anyone know how many watts the front door speakers receive from a stock 6 disk changer in a Ford F150?
I'm hooking up some tweeters and they give a couple of different ways to wire them depending on how many watts they are going to receive.
A: Most stock factory radio's are around 15-20 WPC RMS. Not much. Why do you ask?
Q: How can i improve performance on my 2004 F150?
I have a 04 F150 5.4L V8 4x4. The truck has a lot of power and a BIG motor but come on, its really really SLOW. I have determined that I like the truck, dont want to sell it, and probably will not tow much to anything as it turns out. So where would you start and what will REALLY make a difference in performance?
A: Best thing you can do is put a performance chip in it. It is a cheap and effective way to get much better power and even fuel mileage especially out of those F150s.
Q: I have a 2004 F150 with a 5.4 engine.Is there really a type of computer programmer that will give better MPG??
vehicle--- 2004 F150 "new body" 5.4 Lariat 4x4
Has anybody ever tried any type of computer programmer for better gas mileage?Like Hypertech or the Edge programmers? Do they work for a couple extra mpg? This truck is bone stock and im not really lookin for more power just fuel economy.Thanks.
A: Either of those, and even the Superchips programmer. The problem with progammers, is that generally the extra MPG's are offset by the newfound power and lack of self control. That is what screwed my F150 when I chipped it.
Also, alot of people cant seem to justify spending the large chunk of money for the programmer to improve MPG's by such a small amount.
So, yeah, your mileage could go up, how much depends on how you drive. You might be better off just changing your driving habits for free, and keep the $350-450 in your pocket.
Q: I have a 2004 F150 and want to locate the computer module. Can someone pinpoint where it is located.?
My 2004 F150 is a Lariat with a factory consul, I checked under the dash by the steering column, under the hood, inside the kickplate on passenger's side, no luck. maybe I do not know what to look for. A sevice tecnician said it was beside thr steering column but I can not see it. Would someone shine some light or send a picture of a computer module for me, Thank you. What I am trying to do is find the code for the keyless entry and it is printed on the computer module.
A: It depends on whether you have a regular cab, or a supercab and supercrew. If it's the regular cab, remove the left rear quarter trim panel to access the vehicle security module. If it's a supercab or supercrew, remove the rear seatback assembly and the trim panel behind it. The module will have two electrical connectors connected to it. On the label will be a part number similar to 4L3T-15K602-XXX. There will also be FIVE numbers. Those FIVE numbers are your keyless entry keypad code. Hope this helps.
Q: i have a 2004 Ford F150 and the power steering seems to have totally gone? any suggestions to check? Pump?
have a 2004 F150 (new style) and the steering has totally gone. Seems to be manual steering instead of power steering. I have checked for leaks and found none. I think even though it hasn't leaked it could be the pump? anyone else have this issue?
A: Sounds like a bad pump, but here's a quick check, but BE CAREFUL. Take the cap off the power steering pump, and see if you can see movement inside the pump, while it is running, and someone turns the steering for you. Please keep yourself safe when doing this. The fluid when moving through is easily seen. If it's like a frog pond, pump's done.
Q: How do I fix the odometer light in a 2004 F150.?
The odometer works but at night the light does not come on. Everything else on he dash seems to work except the light for the background on the odometer.
A: Remove the speedometer cluster to gain access to the back of it and replace the bulb. Either that or take it to a shop and let them do it.
Q: does anyone know where i can find a wiring chart for a 2004 f150 ? i need the wiring for the steering column?
to install a remote start.
i purchased a ready remote start kit, but i cant find the wiring chart for an f150 anywhere.
A: Well you can thank me now for telling you! First disconnect your battery then wait several moments before you start. Now that you have done this i will tell you do not touch the yellow wires. These are part of the airbag srs system. they can deploy faster than you blink causing great damage to a pretty face. The reason for waiting after disconnecting battery is because the airbag module has backup power thru the use of capacitors, etc blah blah blah. As for the wiring diagrams i would think that they were included with the starter kit you bought or could be found on their website if available. other than that i guess you will need to google it. i just wanted to let you know about the airbags and your safety. Good luck!
Q: how much for 2004 F150 detail and polish?
what would something like that run? its a 2004 f150 ELT that is losing its shin? about $100 for a buff job do you think?
opps. sorry, XLT not ELT
A: You can take it to a detailer and get it buffed for probably $100 or less. Or you can buy an auto buffer and do it your self for the cost of the buffer and pad. Do not use any compound as it will remove the clear coat. Here is one for $30.http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WMR%2DW50054&N=700+115&autoview=sku
Q: My 2004 F150 4.6L V8 has a low idle and idle will surge, and it will also stall out when stopped?
I cleaned the k&n air filter, changed the oil, added fuel injector cleaner to the gas, but my truck is still stalling out when I am stopped. It seems the idle is way to low, like hovering around 200 rpms. What could be effecting it?
A: I worked in Ford Engineering designing Mass Air Flow (maf) Meters.
All the time we would get MAF back from k&n cars. When you oil those filters up oil gets suck in to the clean air. This oil gets on the MAF hot wires and causes a rich/lean condition.
Spray off your MAF hot wires with brake cleaner. Start with that. DO NOT try to scrub the wires with any brushes or things A good spray with BRAKE CLEANER only. MAF cleaner is the same stuff, but a smaller can and more expensive.
Brake and MAF cleaner is laquer thinner in a can.
Try this you have nothing to loose.
Oh yeah - The maf is the electronic module right after the air cleaner before the throttle body. You will see some wires connected to your clean air tube thats the MAF. If you remove the MAF from the clean air tube and look at the part that hangs down into the tube, you will see some small silver wires with a glass bead in the middle. These wires are small and fragile. There should be no oil., grease, spiders, bees wings, or paper on them.
If that doens't work there is an Idle Air Control (IAC) that lets air past the throttle plate. That might be messing up or be blocked.
Q: Location of IAT sensor on a 2004 F150 new body style?
Please provide detailed location information Thanks
I found out it was on the right side of the air box thanks to the people on here but I need to know which wires are the IAT in the mass air flow sensor.
A: The (IAT) is integrated into the (MAF) or mass air flow sensor. This is on the right hand side of the air box(as you look under the hood) on the 5.4. On the 4.6 it is in the air filter housing. Good luck
Q: What is up with my ABS system on a 2004 f150 pickup?
ABS and wrench light are on. Cruise control does not work.
I know it could be a few things like wheel sensors etc, but how do I know exactly?
Is there a cheap or free way to get this diagnosed? I have a OBDII scanner but I don't think ABS faults would come up on it.
Can hardly afford the truck let alone to take it in. I can fix whatever is wrong if I can pinpoint it. Thanks much for any help
A: From experience.. Its the abs control module or a wheel speed sensor... GO buy some electronic cleaner for $6 and start spraying the wheel sensor 1 by one... If that doesnt work get a used abs control module.. but before you get one make sure you have your car scanned
Q: How much would it cost to put a lift on a 2004 f150 super cab?
A: well there are body lifts and suspension lifts suspension are better but cheack your state laws. suspension lifts are around 600-3000 and for your truck its around 2100 www.suspensionconnection.com www.skyjacker.com www.jcwhitney.com are my favorites for that stuff and your truck would look bad ass with a 6 in supsension lift and some 35s
